Fishery Report for Spring and Summer fishing 2025

Fishery Report for Spring and Summer fishing 2025

The late Spring and early Summer fishing has been very good this year with regular catches of quality fish sub surface and on dry flies.

In addition, at the time of writing this report, we are now almost at the end of June and the fishing is only now tailing off (due to the current high temperatures and dropping oxygen levels in both Lakes).

A Social Day was held at the end of March. It was disappointing that not more members attended but those that did were kept warm with some excellent fishing and an equally good lunch.  The fish were in good condition and ranged between two and a half pounds to a few around the five pound mark. Lunch was held in our Marquee and with a good lunch as well as a few prizes a good day was had by all.

The Lord de L’Isle trophy this year was presented to Mark White for his energetic assistance and help at our working parties.

After a good number of years Peter Pearson stepped down as Fishery Manager and the Committee are currently putting together a small number of members to share Peter’s responsibilities.

Regretfully , and perhaps a sign of the times, it becomes ever more difficult to find members willing to join the Committee or attend working parties. These issues are not insurmountable but will possibly necessitate the utilization of outside contractors and that in turn will have the knock on effect of increased subscriptions.

Membership has remained strong and we have a waiting list of potential new members. We look forward to welcoming some of them to the Syndicate when the fishing recommences, hopefully, towards the end of September.

Tight lines everyone.
