Fishery Report for Autumn 2025and Winter 2026
After yet another exceptionally hot summer water levels in Lakes 1 and 2 were very low and the weed growth on Lake 2 a potential problem.
Stocking Lake 2 was deferred due to continuing high water temperatures and this deferral enabled us to have the weed cleared and stocking took place shortly thereafter.
Since then the weather conditions seem to have made up for lost time and both Lakes are now full .
The fishing throughout Autumn and to date has been good although but more recently Lake 1 has, as always, become cloudy and the fishing has tailed off somewhat. The fish are there to be caught and can certainly still see the flies but perseverance is required!
A lot of maintenance has been carried out tidying access to the swims, clearing the Car Park and all the Banks on both Lakes have either been strimmed or cut back to allow more room for casting. Thanks go to Mark White’s assistance for doing a lot of this work.
The syndicate year started on 1st February. Subscriptions have this year been increased by £50 to £550 (the first increase for 5 years). This increase is mainly due to the increased costs of maintenance and the lack of volunteers for working parties, thus necessitating the requirement for outside help.
We have accepted several new members from 1st February and we welcome them to the Syndicate. At present we do not have a waiting list and there are still a few vacancies available.
Tight lines everyone.
