After a taking a break for the last couple of months It was great to get back to the Penshurst lakes to cast a line this month. Thanks to Devin a new member for this months lead image, his first catch at Penshurst Park Fishery.
We have had an influx of new members recently, a warm welcome and tight lines to all who have joined Penshurst Park fishery.
I am pleased to report that in August the leaking overflow in lake one has at last been repaired. Our thanks go to Stuart & Toby of – https://wolferepair.co.uk who carried three tons of quick drying cement down the banks of the lake in buckets in 30c heat to repair the overflow monk, definitely not a job for the faint hearted. Lake one is now set up to retain its water level along with lake two which was repaired last year. At the time of writing its raining and more rain is forecast so hopefully the water levels in both lakes will be up to their correct levels very soon.
The very hot summer weather plus the lock down this year have not been ideal for Trout fishing, however the recent cooler nights and rain have brought down the water temperature in both lakes also water aerators in lake one have been on for an extended period to bring up Oxygen levels. The improving water condition allowed new fish stock to be added earlier in the month.
Members have taken advantage of the improving conditions resulting in the catch rate slowly improving during the month. Due to Covid regulations the lodge remains out of bounds and members returns must be emailed to (wolfe.a@penshurstflyfishing.co.uk ) please include, date fished the number of fish caught 0-5, from which lake, C&T or C&R and weight of heaviest fish if possible.
Paul Legge who many members will know has decided to step down as our fish stock coordinator, thanks to Paul for his commitment and hard work. Andrew Glew has been appointed the new coordinator, Im sure Andrew will keep the lakes fully stocked for all to enjoy.
