Autumn has arrived, the leaves on the trees around Penshurst Park are falling and temperatures are dropping, there has also been an abundance of rain during the month. On the plus side water levels in both lakes are now at their optimum level. During a recent visit I noticed the newly repaired overflow monk on lake one doing a great job holding back the water and as designed water was running over the front lip.

The cooling temperatures and rising water levels has had a positive effect on the fishing during the month, I am pleased to report catch rate has increased compared to last month, with some members registering their catch limit.

The club welcomed several new members this month, membership numbers are now at the optimum level for 2020. We still welcome new membership enquiries and our Club Secretary has started a waiting list for the 2021 season.

During October the rule on members being able to invite guests was relaxed. Two members reported their guests were fly fishing for the first time, the first a Grandson caught a 3lb Rainbow on a Black Pennel, the second a friend caught two 3lb+ Rainbows. What a great result for both, lets hope they are both hooked on fly fishing.

My thanks for this months lead image supplied by member Craig, showing one of his four Rainbows caught on the day. Largest fish of the month a 4lb 8oz Rainbow caught by Keith using an Appetiser lure, well done Keith.

All members have been brilliant emailing me their returns, many thanks for the added comments and images, keep it up.

Wishing you all tight lines. Alan
